Description Space missions to asteroids have seen a large increase in interest in the last decades because of their scientific and economic potential. For spacecraft to asteroids, the most interesting measurements and actions can only be done on the surface of the asteroid, thus requiring the spacecraft to be able to land on the surface of the asteroid. In this project, the student will try to design trajectories to safely and efficiently land on an asteroid, analyze these trajectories in-depth, and try to design a control algorithm that is able to follow this trajectory despite the uncertainties present in the problem. Key Objectives Understand theĀ challengesĀ and current solutions to landing a spacecraft on an asteroid. Develop and test an algorithm to design asteroid landing trajectories. Develop and test a controller that can follow this trajectory.
