Description

Biodegradable organics are the major part of the waste generated by households worldwide. They mainly are kitchen waste, and can be up to 50% of the total household waste. This poject is about design of a smart and easy to manage home coposter for indoor use. The system has to be an optimal trade-off between a hot bin garden composter and the very fast smart composters that have been reaching the market during the last months.

Key Objectives

  • Literature review of hot bin garden composters and currently available smart composter;

  • Implementation of a low fidelity numerical simulator for a hot bin composter;

  • Sensoring and data collection of a hot bin garden composter (funds can be discussed)

  • Implementation of a monitoring system for optimal management of the composter, which could include "some" control.
