Description

The project focuses on the coupling of an available CFD code with a hybrid deterministic/stochastic solver for the optimisation of 2D shapes. An agreed shape will be parameterised and an automatic meshing procedure will allow using the solver to optimise aerodynamic performance of the object(s). The project will require VERY GOOD mathematical and numerical analysis skills, good understanding of aerodynamics, and very good programming skills (FORTRAN/C/C++/matlab/python and LINUX). Previous experience in optimisation could be extremely useful as well.

Key Objectives

  • Parametrisation of an agreed 2D geometry.

  • Creation of the 2D mesh and automatisation of the meshing process

  • Implementation and testing of the full CFD template (including pre-processing, actual solving process, and post-processing)

  • Coupling of the CFD template with an optimisation solver.

  • Performing the optimisation process and analysis of the results
