Abstract This report looks at an audit carried out for Defence Standardization (DStan) to the standard BS20200- Standardisation management system. The aim of this project was to audit DStan to the full scope of BS202000 and provide recommendations for DStan based on this and a report will be submitted to DStan based on the findings. This standard covers the management, creation, maintenance, and support of a standardisation management system. Within DStan and the greater MOD the JSP920 part 1 and 2 is the governing document for standardisation management and the standardisation management system StanMIS. A literature review was conducted to look at the standard BS202000 and what is involved in auditing a standardisation management system. As well as the supporting documents provided by the MOD, JSP920 part 1 and 2 which is the MOD Standardisation management policy that is the MOD’s answer to the requirements and specifications for the need of standardisation management. JSP 920 is split into two parts each part with their own role to play. Part 1 being the directive and part 2 being the guidance in how to carry out Part 1. Within this thesis all forty-two questions asked within the scope of the audit, have been included, Taken from Annex D in BS202000. The audit outcome was that there was only 1 CAR (Corrective Action Report) and 1 PAR (Preventative Action Report) recommendations to mitigate the nonconformities have been provided. This is a generally good outcome for DStan given it is the first time they have been audited to BS202000. And there were many very good examples of where DStan successfully met the clauses.
