Tiziana Marrocco

Dr Tiziana Marrocco BEng (Hons), PhD, CEng, FIMMM – Knowledge Exchange Manager My name is Dr Tiziana Marrocco and I am the Knowledge Exchange Manager at the Advanced Materials Research Laboratory (AMRL). I am also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3), and the President of the Scottish Association for Metals (the Scottish affiliation of the IOM3). After direct experience in industry, since 2016 I provide direct consultancy to AMRL’s commercial clients and standout research across all sectors of engineering. My expertise is in materials engineering, microstructural characterisation, thermal analysis and mechanical testing, surface technologies, additive manufacturing, failure investigation and asset management. Currently, my focus is on the transition to sustainable solutions and amongst the projects I am leading some topics of interest cover: wind turbine decommissioning; hydrogen storage (e.g. floating hydrogen storage for offshore wind) and transport (e.g. qualification of rigid flowline system for hydrogen transport); failure investigation and materials characterisation of wind turbine components; remanufacturing, repair and reuse of wind turbine components in the circular economy. Research Interests

Materials characterisation and testing Microstructural analysis of engineering components Correlation between material properties and component performance Correlation between material properties and manufacturing process Relationship between materials composition and microstructure, physical and mechanical properties Development of materials with enhanced properties Failure investigation of components Mechanical behaviour of materials
