Research Interests: Tidal stream energy; Ocean Currents; Tank testing; Dynamic loading and performance; Array Optimisation; Desalinisation; Offshore Wind Energy, Green Hydrogen, Life Cycle Assessments Current Research Projects: PRIMARE ECR “The role of tidal stream technology for a sustainable development in the renewable energy sector”; SuperGen Cross Hub Funding “Decarbonising shipping utilising renewable hydrogen”; Supergen ORE “Damage tolerant hybrid composites for safer and higher performance composite offshore wind turbine blades”; EC TNA Marinet 2 “Labscale Testing of Tidal Turbine Arrays”; EC TNA Marinet 2 “Experimental analysis of low flow velocity turbines” Dr Stephanie Ordóñez-Sanchez is a Chancellor’s Fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She has been involved in a wide range of research projects related to marine energy conversion in the UK, Europe, Asia and Latin-America. Her research activities include investigating dynamic loadings in marine energy converters related to wave and currents, bathymetry and off-design conditions, array optimisation and the application of machine learning to be used as a predictive tool to evaluate loadings or as a classification analysis mechanism. She is also interested in looking at sustainable solutions for the floating offshore renewable energy sector and decarbonising transport with green hydrogen and marine conversion to meet clean water demands.
