Description Textiles and meshes manufactured from polymers are used extensively for implanation in human patients, as part of treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. In this industrial project, the student will design and manufacture a custom rig for handling textile used to manufacture an implantable medical device. The project will run in collaboration with a medical device company based in the West of Scotland. Key Objectives
Understand requirements of design and background literature pertaining to textile handling technology Generate design concepts for key components - agree on best candidate designs with supervisor Test critical components/design concepts - report on findings Create 3D assembly of final design, including material selection Manufacture prototype and perform functionality testing
